Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

So I've been slacking when it comes to book reviews lately. I've read several the past few months, but have just not had the time to update the site. Seriously, moms with toddlers will know why the updates have been lacking.

To rectify that, I'm going to try to do some quick reviews on the last few I have read recently, starting with my most recent read, Six of Crows. I have had this book sitting on my shelf FOREVER but just kept bypassing it. It's one of those that you know has gotten high praise, but you have to hype yourself up to tackle it.

Leigh's Shadow and Bone series was one of the first YA series I read. I thought the universe was so unique and beautifully constructed. That universe expands in her Six of Crows series. I haven't read Crooked Kingdom yet, but I have to say, I think this is going to become a favorite series of mine.

I saw someone's review that described this as part Ocean's Eleven. That is the perfect description...six outcasts attempting an impossible heist. The trickery and deception was a surprise at every turn. Kaz never failed to impress with his slight of hand ruses.

Despite all their flaws, I loved each member. Their backstories were woven into the story to give the reader a more dynamic picture of the life they were living. Each character is messy and flawed, but that made their journeys even more interesting.

I highly encourage everyone looking for a good fantasy to pick this one up. The plot is intricate, the world is vivid, the relationships are...complicated. But it will leave you wanting more.
